Mr. Thomas Futrell, Jr.
On Friday September 09, 2011, God in his infinite power and all knowing wisdom called home HIS beloved son
Thomas Futrell, Jr.
Mr. Thomas Futrell, Jr. was born was on March 24, 1937 in Ahoskie, North Carolina to the
late, Tommie & Laura W. Futrell. He attended Nansemond County Public Schools.
He retired in 1995 from
Thomas J. Lipton, Incorporated, now, Unilever with twenty-six years of service as a Leadsman and previously
employed by Peoples’ Drug Store as their Delivery driver for fifteen years. He was a member of Faith Temple
Ministries for forty six-years; formerly served as: Trustee, Business Manager, member of the Men’s Choir,
Sunday School Teacher and currently a member of the Men’s Ministry and Deacons’ Board.
He worked diligently
for the beautification of the church properties as the landscaper for thirty seven-years.
He was the owner
and operator of his Lawn Business at nine years of age and President of Futrell & Futrell Properties, LLC for thirty two years. He served as the contractor, builder and repairman of his home and rental properties.
Survived by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Doris L. Futrell; three daughters: Denise Parrish (Elvis), Angelia Strothers, and Tammy Epps (Clarence) of Suffolk, VA; one sister: Lucille Hardy of Brooklyn, NY; four brother in laws: Charlie Lewter (Eula) of Nashville, TN, James Lewter (Gaynell) of Washington, DC, Wordell Lewter (Cornelia) of Baltimore, MD, Israel Sexton of Brooklyn, NY; Four sister in laws: Bertha Walker (Herman), Nashville, TN, Rosetta Brown, and Queen Watson (Fred) of Brooklyn, NY, Lilly Mae Jones (Joseph) of Portsmouth, VA; Grand Children: Kasandra Parrish Baker (Klamente’) of Suffolk, Elvis Parrish, Jr. (Deanna) of Waldorf, MD, Clarissa and Clarence Epps, Jr., Charity and Hope Strothers; Great Grand Children: Ja’Len, Lauryn, and Sydney Baker all of Suffolk; Gabrielle and Jordan Parrish of Waldorf, MD.
He was predeceased by two Sisters: Ethel Sexton and Mary Richardson; two Brothers: George and Fred Futrell and Sam Brown all of Brooklyn, NY.
Other loving friends of the family: the late Bishop Dr. Obadiah Colander and the Colander Family (longtime neighbors) and Elder Dwayne B. Strothers.
A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
A Funeral of Triumph will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 12
noon at Faith Temple Ministries (Apostolic) where Dr. Linwood A.
Gilchrist, Sr. is pastor.Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial
Gardens.
A Public viewing will be from 3:00.pm. until 6:00.pm., Friday, September
16, 2011 at Harris Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be
held from 6:30.pm. until 8:30.pm., Friday September 16, 2011 at Faith TempleMinistries (Apostolic).
