Mr. Charles Anthony Brown

Charles Anthony Brown  was born on October 7, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia.  He was the son of the late Charles Lee Brown and Robbie Mae Brown of Norfolk, Virginia.  Charles attended Norfolk Public Schools and was married to Carolyn Jennings Brown for 31 years. Charles was a loving husband and parent to his sons, Marcus and Desi (Lemond).    Charles was a member of Antioch United Church of Christ for many years and enjoyed attending. He served in the United States Army and was also a painter for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.  In 1986, he established his Independent Insurance Agency, serving many in the Tidewater area. He loved to fish and hold interesting conversations...no one was a  stranger to him. Charles loved children and became the "Daddy" of the neighborhood. He departed this life on Monday, October 9, 2017, peacefully at home.  Charles was predeceased by Parents, Charles Lee Brown and Robbie Mae Brown, and a sister Edith J. Brown.  He leaves to cherish his memories:  His wife, Carolyn Jennings Brown of the home, Chesapeake, VA; two sons, Marcus Brown of Chesapeake, VA and Desi (Lemond) Jennings of Battle Creek, Michigan; a sister, Dorothy DeGraffinreadt (Kevin) of Newark, New Jersey, Sister-in-laws Bettie Savage (George), Barbara Drummond, Sharon Bell and Samantha Goodman, all of Suffolk, VA; Brother-in-laws, Vernon Jennings (Janice) of Chesapeake, VA, and Michael and Calvin Jennings both of Suffolk, VA.  He will be sadly missed by his two faithful, special friends...Larry Elam and Joseph Riddick. Charles also leaves to cherish his memory, a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.  A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday , October 14,2017 at the Antioch UCC 900 Hull Ave Suffolk Va. 23434. Burial will be held on Monday at the Albert G. Horton’s Veteran Cemetery.
