Miss Quindell Edith McCray

Quindell Edith McCray departed this life peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at her home with her grandchildren by her side. Quindell (Dell) was born to Ernest and Pearline McCray on September 15, 1935, in King Street, South Carolina. In 1954, she graduated from of East Suffolk High School. As young woman, Quindell moved to New York to begin her career AT&T, where she eventually rose to the level of supervisor. Having achieved a stellar career there., she was able to retire after more than 20 years. After moving back to Suffolk, she decided she needed to keep busy and began working at QVC. It was an enjoyable experience, and she made many friends there. She then worked at Obici Hospital for a few years as a dispatcher. Quindell was an independent, hard-working, no cut cards kind of woman – always Keeping it real. Her life was devoted to her grandchildren. They were her everything and they were her world. Quindell was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Pearline McCray, and her son Juan Antonio McCray. She is survived by her granddaughter LaKeisha Rene’e McCray-Ham (Charles), Woodbridge, VA; three great-grandchildren, Antonio McCray, Alecia McCray and Chania Ham; one sister Lauretta McCray, Suffolk, VA; two brothers, Ernest McCray (Reading, PA), Timothy McCray (Suffolk, VA), a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver Cynthia Gray, for taking care of Quindell for all these years while she was battling Alzheimer
